Artist statement

As a musician, my favorite piece is "Clair de Lune". Painting in watercolor captures the evanescent beauty, suffusion of light, and emotional cascade of life that I feel from this piece. It is both sonata and haiku. It offers brilliance, clarity, emotional depth, and whimsical commentary. I draw inspiration from everyday objects, faces, and the exuberance of spring. The rhythms and curvilinear grace of Art Deco has been an enormous influence. The fluidity of the medium has been a deep well of replenishment, which provides both sanctuary and vitality, and I hope to impart this in my work.
