Inititially my interest in watercolor was sparked by its portability. Watercolor travels well and can easily be carried out of a studio into the woods or city streets. Beyond this, potential for subtlety of tone, development of values and colors allows watercolor to be an appropriate vehicle for picture making beyond just sketching or making notes. It always surprises me how much can be done with so little.
