I came to watercolor from two very different paths. I have been doing black and white street photography for years. Through black and white photography, I learned about composition, values and to embrace spontaneity. I also spend a lot of time up in the beautiful Berkshires of western Massachusetts. I fell in love with the landscape there. SInce I did not want to take up landscape photography I needed another outlet. So I started to paint and have been painting since 1999. I think it is the most relaxing part of my rather hectic life. I love the looseness and spontaneity of watercolor. It is also so liberating to bathe a blank piece of paper in color.
