I've been having a love affair with transparent watercolor for more than 10 years. I use it to paint still-lifes, portraits, sketchbook journal illustrations and especially en plein air. It's those quick glimpses that turn me on: a square of morning sunlight on an emerald lawn or afternoon shadows on a quiet road.Trying to get those glimpses down on paper is another story. So I paint small, with watercolor. It's practical: easy to set up when I see something I just gotta paint. And easy to fold up and head home once the sun goes down.
