Robert Ferguson

Artist statement

Robert Ferguson includes himself among those who believe that it is never too late to pursue your passion. Although he has a long-standing interest in art, particularly impressionistic watercolor painting, he chose instead to commit his efforts to education and the field of human services. Art, nonetheless, remained a significant part of his life. In recent years, however, he has given more time to painting. Satisfied with his progress and seeking the companionship of other artists, he joined the Brooklyn Watercolor Society in 2009. The support of BWS, together with an opportunity to exhibit his work, further strengthened his commitment to painting.

Robert is self-taught and is working to develop his own style by exploring the principles demonstrated in the work of a broad range of classic and contemporary watercolorists. His paintings seek to create pleasing images in a fluid, engaging manner using elements unique to the medium. He hopes that his excitement about painting is reflected in his work.
