Thank You for your interest in joining the Brooklyn Watercolor Society. We are an organization of professional watercolorists with a wide variety of interests, goals and experience. Our members are recipients of many awards in major open art exhibitions and our paintings can be found in museums, public institutions and corporate and private collections. We meet at least six times per year to share ideas, and to plan group exhibitions and activities, all towards the goal of encouraging interest in the transparent watercolor medium. The Society is a non-profit organization, supporting itself from member's dues and fees.

Meetings are currently held at the Marine Park Nature Center 3302 Avenue U usually on the third Wednesday of the month at 7:30 PM. The Brooklyn Watercolor Society generally has 40 members at any given time. Our annual dues are currently $25.00. Our small group encourages the active participation of each and every member. Our committees include: Gallery, Special Events, Exhibit, and Public Relations. When invited to become a member, you will be given the details of each committee's activities and asked which committee you would most like to join. To qualify for membership in the Brooklyn Watercolor Society, you must be a Brooklyn-affiliated watercolor artist . . . either born, raised, working or living in Brooklyn, N.Y.

Application Procedure
Applications are reviewed twice a year during the scheduled meetings of March and November. You may apply directly to our Society, in which case application forms should be received by the end of February for review in March, or by the end of October for review in November.

Upon receipt of your application, you will be notified where and when your paintings are to be delivered. You will be asked to submit six, only matted, original transparent watercolor paintings for approval by the attending members. Because we believe your work must speak for itself, we ask that you not be present at the time of consideration. Design and drawing skills, facility with the medium and the quality of presentation are the key points upon which applications are reviewed. Each application is presented, discussed and then voted upon by secret ballot. You will be notified by mail regarding the Society's decision on your application. In the event you are not selected for membership, you may apply again at the next membership review period. You may apply for membership as many times as you like.
